Aren't You Hot in That?

[Posted by: Dawud Israel | May 30, 2009 . Source: Muslimology]

Bismillah, alhamdulillah, wa salat wa salam ala Rasulullah

Now that the summer is upon us, every once in a while our dear sisters will be asked about their hijab or niqaab: Aren’t you Hot in That?

While, this little piece of dawah literature is meant to turn this simple question into a full-blown opportunity for dawah. Its pretty, flashy and succinct in its delivery and I know a few sisters reading this will be thinking, “Finally someone has addressed this! Alhamdulillah!”

But of course, I’m not a sister so the idea wasn’t mine. I’d like to thank Sr. H. Omar, Sr. Naila and Br. Shaikr for their efforts, in writing it and designing it.

You can download it below:

Aren’t you Hot in That?

There aren’t any real restrictions or anything like that on how this is supposed to be used. So the easiest thing to do is to simply print this out on double-sided sheet. You are best visiting Staples or a print shop and getting this done in high quality. You also have other options, like you can shrink it down to a small card size easy to carry around. Or turn it into a big poster for an event. It’s really up to you, and I know sisters are creative so they will think of a better way to make use of this. :)

Subhana kallahumma wa bihamdika ash-haduana la illaha illa ant astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, Ameen.

Muslim Participation in a Funeral Prayer

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,
"Whoever follows the funeral procession and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirat.'' It was asked, "What are two Qirat?'' He (PBUH) replied, "Equal to two huge mountains.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: Participation in a Muslim's funeral procession and prayer for him brings a Muslim a great reward - like the massiveness of a big mountain. And if he stays beside the grave till the burial takes place, the reward will become two-fold, that is, equaling the massiveness of two huge mountains. [Riyad-us-Saliheen: Chapter 155, Participation in Funeral Prayer and Procession - Number 929]

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,
"Whosoever attends the funeral of a Muslim believing and hoping for the reward from Allah and remains with it until the prayer is offered over it and the burial is completed, he will return with a reward of two Qirat; each Qirat is equivalent to Mount Uhud; and whosoever offers his prayer over it and returns before its burial, he will come back with one Qirat.'' [Al-Bukhari].
Commentary: This Hadith explains that the only person who will earn the rewards for participating in the funeral prayer is the one who does it only to fulfill the Commands of Allah in order to seek His Pleasure. It will be denied to him in case his intention is based on social, political and family considerations. [Riyad-us-Saliheen: Chapter 155, Participation in Funeral Prayer and Procession - Number 930]

Rights of a Muslim upon a Muslim

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,
"A believer owes another believer five rights: responding to greetings, visiting him in illness, following his funeral, accepting his invitation, and saying `Yarhamuk-Allah (May Allah have mercy on you),' when he says `Al-hamdu lillah (Praise be to Allah)' after sneezing". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Muslim's narration is,
"There are six rights of a Muslim upon a Muslim: When you meet him, greet him; when he invites you, respond to him; when he seeks counsel, give him advice; when he sneezes and praises Allah, say to him: `May Allah have mercy on you (Yarhamuk-Allah)'; when he is sick, visit him; and when he dies, follow his funeral".

Commentary: The bond of brotherhood among the Muslims has been further strengthened by the list in this Hadith about the rights of Muslims on one another. [Riyad-us-Saliheen: Chapter 27, Reverance towards the Sanctity of the Muslims - Number 238]

Keeping Good Company

It is vital that the correct company is kept as Shaytaan will not fail to mislead you on account of the company you keep. The Messenger (sas) said: “The example of the good and bad company is that of a musk-seller and an iron-monger. Even if you do not buy from the musk-seller the fragrance will remain with you and even if your clothers do not get burnt by being in close proximity to the iron-monger the bad smell will remain with you.” [Reported by Bukhaaree]
The Messenger (sas) also said: “Do not be a companion except to a believer”. [Reported by Abu Daawood]

And the poet spoke the truth when he said:
Choose among the people, one who will guide you
Indeed, by a friend does one guide himself

And accompanying the evil ones is blindess and a disease

It increases the sick heart in sickness

So if you are a follower of the Sunnah

Then avoid the evil companionship

So be zealous of keeping good company and remaining only with good muslims, those who fear Allaah much and strive to worship Him. If you do so, you will never be able to count the good you will acquire, and with Allaah lies all success.

Love of Allah

The love of the Beloved
must be unconditionally returned. If you claim love
yet oppose the Beloved,
then your love is but a pretence.
You love the enemies of your Beloved
and still seek love in return.

You fight the beloved of your Beloved.

Is this Love or the following of shaytaan?

True devotion is nothing
but total submission
of body and soul
to One Love.

We have seen humans claim to submit,
yet their loyalties are many.

They put their trust here, and their hope there,
and their love is without consequence.
